TWD: Tarte Noire
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie was the Tarte Noire, chosen by Dharmagirl of bliss: towards a delicious life. I hadn’t actually planned for this one but found I that had pretty much everything that I needed so I gave it a shot.
The one thing I didn’t have was any regular bittersweet chocolate so I used some premium bars that I received from Amano several months ago to try out when I wrote at Chocolate Bytes. I don’t usually bake with premium or artisan chocolate, but I had nothing else around (it’s time for groceries!).
Now, I liked the finished tart, but it was actually a bit too, well, tart for the kids. They loved the crust, which was yummy, but I think they were expecting the ganache to taste like a mild chocolate pudding (because it looks like it) and were disappointed when it was “mom and dad chocolate.”
As you can see, my crust doesn’t have the pretty fluted design that a regular tart does because I don’t have a tart pan. I just used my regular Springform instead and it worked very well. In all, it was a very tasty treat and since I love working with ganache I’m definitely going to be trying it again, though with a bit more of a “regular” chocolate for the kids.
mom and Dad chocolate. too funny!!! The will appreciate it more when they grow up.
