Homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies
Last weekend, I came across this recipe for homemade Oatmeal Cream Pies on Pinterest. I love the Little Debbie version, and was happy to find that I actually had everything in my pantry to make these.
I had just one issue with mine, in that they didn’t flatten out at all like the ones at the original site did.
They stayed pretty puffy, which wouldn’t work for sandwiching them together, so I mushed them down just a bit with the bottom of a measuring cup.
The frosting was also easy to make, and probably one of the best ones I’ve tried.
It worked well with the only drawback being that they became a bit dense. Two of them together with the cream filling was a bit too much, so I frosted them individually.
These are really delicious, sandwiched or not, and while I don’t think I’ll be replacing Little Debbie with them (I have my weaknesses), I’ll definitely be hanging on to the recipe!
