Diet Coke Brownies
Yesterday, I saw this pin on Pinterest for brownies made with just a box of brownie mix and a can of Diet Coke and I knew I had to give it a shot. Not only do I have a load of brownie mix in my pantry, but I’ve got approximately a year’s supply of Diet Coke in the fridge. I decided I could sacrifice one of each to give this a try.
The original post for the brownies is located here, and was extremely easy. You dump the brownie mix into a bowl, dump the Diet Coke in after it and mix until well blended. It makes a really runny batter, which made me nervous, but whatever. The whole thing cost me all of .15 cents to make, I wasn’t terribly worried.
I had to add at least another 10 minutes to the baking time, which brought it up to a total bake time of about 45 minutes. The top looked really dry but the bottom stayed gooey.
Though these were really easy, cheap, and pain-free, I don’t think I’ll make them again. The texture was really spongy (even with the gooey bottom), and fell apart easily while trying to eat it. They also tasted like the chocolate flavor had been muted, which I know sounds weird, but they just weren’t as intense as brownies made the traditional way. I’d rather have the real thing.
